Global Hands-On Universe Conference 2007 in Japan


FEES

Please pay the registration fee and social activitie fee at the reception desk during the conference.
Only Japanese Yen Cash is accepted.
No Credit card. No wire transfer. No traveler's check. No personal check.
Banks are closed on July 14th, 15th and 16th because of Japanese public holiday and weekend. Forigen exchange is impossible on those days around NAOJ.

Access

There are three major international airports on the mainland, or " Honshu ", Japan.

1. Narita International Airport is serving as the main gateway to Tokyo.

2. Central Japan International Airport is located 300km west from Tokyo. Nagoya Railroad and airport buses have services from Central Japan International Airport to JR Nagoya Station.

3. Kansai International Airport is located 500km west from Tokyo.

You should take Japan Railways, or JR, trains from Narita and Kansai international airports, and JR NAGOYA Station.
The JAPANRAIL PASS, valid for 7 to 21 days, is the most economical way to travel throughout Japan by JR before, while and after the conference, even coming down to downtown Tokyo. THE JAPANRAIL PASS works for all JR " Shinkansen" bullet trains, except any reserved or non-reserved seat on "NOZOMI" trains.

Night buses are not recommended! Tiring!!

*Capacity of the accomodation in NAOJ, called Cosmos Kaikan, is so limited (less than 10 spaces) that only the LOC will arrange. People who will join the excursion beginning on the 18th or who stay longer personally need extra hotel reservations.

Note that med July is the summer vacation season, when hotels are generally very busy and may not accept any extensions of your stay. Please make sure your hotel reservations again.
